1 Dead, 1 Injured After Head-On, Wrong-Way Crash – 46-year-old Sarasota was identified as the dead victim while another is in critical condition after a wrong-way crash early Tuesday morning, according to Florida Highway Patrol.
Troopers say an unidentified 46-year-old Sarasota man was traveling eastbound on the westbound side of the road when his vehicle struck a 34-year-old Bradenton man’s vehicle head-on. The crash happened around 1:35 a.m. on University Parkway, just east of Tuttle Avenue.
The 46-year-old man who was driving in the wrong direction was also not wearing a seat belt, according to a crash report, and was pronounced dead. His next of kin has been notified.
The Bradenton man survived the crash, and is in critical condition, troopers said.
The crash remains under investigation.
