Willamette River Drowning – The police have presumed that a 17-year-old boy who went under water and never resurfaced while swimming in Willamette River at Riverfront City Park on Wednesday evening, July 22, has drowned.
At 7:11 p.m, the Salem Police Department, Salem Fire Department, Marion County Sheriff’s Office and Polk County Sheriff’s Office responded to the incident.

According to official statement, the boat ramp at Wallace Marine Park will have limited access for the next several hours. MCSO Search and Rescue will be coordinating efforts to locate and recover a swimmer presumed to have drowned Wednesday evening.
The boy’s friend was the one who placed a 911 call after he went under water and did not resurface.
During a search on Wednesday, emergency personnel were unable to locate him.
Search still continues.
