Rapid Gunshots Left One Dead – Investigation is ongoing about an incident which occurred on Sunday morning in an alley after a young man was found dead in 18th Street and Nanette Street.

Officers were immediately displaced to the street around 7:30am after the news of a dead body.

According to the police, his body appeared to have some sort of trauma in the neck and head area. The authorities are investigating the death as homicide although his identity has not been released.

Those living nearby after speaking to KATV, said they heard what sounded like gunshots early Sunday morning. According to one of the neighbors Corey Payne, “It was just rapid fire, like somebody unleashed a whole clip of ammunition, and didn’t stop until it’s empty.”

Payne said “I noticed a guy laying down there, I didn’t know if he was breathing or what happened, everybody started getting hysterical and loud and, and saying somebody had gotten shot.”

He continued by stating that acts of violence are becoming an all too common occurence. “It’s something people are getting more and more used to, you don’t know if you’re hearing gunshots, or if you’re hearing fireworks.”

An award is being offered  for any information leading to an arrest and conviction of the suspect.
