Catawba River Death – The Officials have reported the death of a 22-year-old male swimmer who reportedly drowned in the Catawba River in Gaston County on Sunday, July 19.
The body of the man was recovered by the rescue team.

At around 1:30 p.m, the officials were called to the scene on Mountain Island Road at Tailrace Park in Mount Holly.
The police reports says, the deceased was swimming with another person before he went under the water and never came up. Witness says he was swimming approximately 50ft from the bank.
He was confirmed dead at the scene when brought to shore by the rescue team.
His identity is yet to be released by the police as his family are yet to be notified.
Investigation is still ongoing.
