According to investigation, since the tractor was the only vehicle involved in this incident, it is still unclear why the 10 people (6 kids and 4 adults) who were riding in the tractors bucket were thrown off the vehicle in the province’s Montérégie region. Following further investigation, the tractor was also carrying wood and heading to a party with the people.

The three kids below the age of 5 died at the spot while one of the adults who got injured gave up some days later. The other six people are reported to have sustained injuries.

According to an eye witness identified as Luc Perreault, in his statement: “it’s rare but not unheard of for people to ride in the loader of a tractor.”

“We used to do that when we were kids, you know, with Grandpa’s old tractor sometimes, get in the bucket,” he said. “But not to that magnitude, so many people.”

The driver is not expected to be charged with alcohol-related crimes although that was the initial suspect.

The accused was released on $5,000 bail and many conditions, including a communication ban with certain people involved in the tragedy, prohibited from driving a motor vehicle, except in emergency situations, and a ban on operating any agricultural machinery except done alone, reports CTV News.
