Philadelphia Homicide – The Philadelphia police has reported the death of a 6-year-old boy who was shot on the chest on Sunday around 12:45pm, inside a home on the 4600 block of Kendrick Street in Upper Holmesburg.

Investigation is still ongoing as to what led to the shooting. It is unclear whether the boy was shot by someone or shot himself. The child’s uncle came home around 5:30pm on Sunday, and was seen being comforted by his neighbors.

The 6-year-old whose name is still withheld by the police was shot on the left side of his chest. He was immediately rushed to Jefferson-Torresdale Hospital because of his critical state by a family member. The child was pronounced dead just after 1:30pm in the hospital.

The Crime scene unit and the detectives were seen combing in and out of the house and the house next door in search of evidences. A woman was later seen escorted from the home where the shooting took place.

Neighbors confirmed that they were only alerted that something happened when they saw the officers because no gunshot was heard.

One of the neighbors, Greg Van Ball said “I didn’t hear a shot fired. There was no indication that there was anything, no screaming, no nothing. I don’t know what happened. I know it’s going to be super, super sad. I know the family and I know the little guy. It’s really, really upsetting.”

The deceased child had two siblings who also lives in the home.
