Dear Members –
It is with the heaviest of hearts that I write the saddest thing I’ve ever written.
On Friday, July 23rd, our beloved Kim Minichiello passed away at age 56 of a heart attack.
For the past two weeks, Kim and David have been on vacation enjoying Yellowstone National Park and Montana with friends. Last Friday, after having a fantastic day of hiking, photographing, and site-seeing around Montana, she rested for a little while then went out for dinner that night when she had a heart attack. She was taken to the hospital as quickly as possible but could not be revived.
Needless to say, the family is beside themselves and feeling this great loss. David and their daughter, Alaina, will return to Florida very soon and want to plan a Celebration of Life event at a location not yet determined. I will keep you posted on this as it progresses.
We would also like to ask for donations toward a Kim Minichiello Memorial Award for the 50th Annual Exhibition. David believes she would have wanted this in lieu of flowers. The Donation link is below.
Her painting, Bushido, was accepted to the 50th and it will still show as a tribute. We may or may not need someone in the Orlando area who is driving their painting down to take charge of getting it to take-in and safely back to David. If you can do this, contact me and we will keep in touch on this.
I can think of no one who will be missed more! She and David were newly retired, she was at the peak of her teaching and art career, and they were planning on touring the world. She was our Angel on earth and will always be in our hearts.
I know Kim’s entire FWS family feels the same shock, sorrow, and grief at her passing. This was totally unexpected on every level and beyond comprehension. As David told me, everything was taken from her, and she was taken from us! How true. She also left a lot behind to remember her by.
Tell the people whom you love that you love them every day! We will miss you like crazy, Kim Minichiello!

Since we have not noticed the family’s official obituary, the information as regards the direction for In Lieu of Flowers is unknown to us for now. We are not sure if there is any fundraising campaign for the deceased funeral running at the moment.
