Tributes On The Death Of Irm Hermann
The day right after I watched The Bitter Tears of Petra von Kant for the first time, I hear that Irm Hermann, whose wordless performance tells an entire story every frame she’s onscreen, has passed away. Life works in really strange ways, RIP to a superlative talent.

Sad to hear of the death of IRM HERMANN who made us squirm with her portrayal of desperate, embittered housewives in so many Fassbinder films, while also managing to inject wit & humanity into these unsympathetic roles. Unforgettable too as Petra von Kant’s eerily mute assistant.

Ruhe in Frieden Irm Hermann. Such a memorable face in Fassbinder’s films and she aged wonderfully. Gone at 77.

RIP Irm Hermann, whose unique screen presence is one of my favorite things about so many of Fassbinder’s films. She’s so funny in Eight Hours Don’t Make a Day.

RIP dear Irm Hermann. She’s incredible in everything, especially and obviously in the Fassbinder films, but her delicate performance in Ulrike Ottinger’s Johanna d’Arc of Mongolia, and this scene in particular, is what will forever own my heart. I am so sad.
