Really? Then why did the Phillies seek Realmuto if they can’t develop talent? Stanton? Jose Fernandez if not for his death? When was the last time the Phillies farm system last developed an elite player of any kind?

I don’t think we will ever fully grasp the career we all lost out on when Fernández passed. Clemente’s death was felt really hard by the game, but he was 38 and had turned in a HoF career. José was 24 when we lost him, and he was already one of the very best pitchers in the game.

If death is counted, baseball can include the young marlins pitcher Jose Fernandez. Joy to watch play

Every time I see how dirt cheap Jose Fernandez cards are it makes me sad. I’ve never had as much fun watching baseball as I did watching him pitch. First/only celebrity death that really shook me up.
