Man Charged On Stabbing His Father to Death – Lucas Daniel Gonzalez, 26, was arrested Wednesday for allegedly stabbing his father Alfredo Gonzalez, 73 to death at their shared home in Las Cruces.
Las Cruces Police Department said officers responded to a 911 hang up at a home in the 5800 block of Desert Mesa Place shortly after 2:30 a.m.
Officers said Alfredo Gonzalez, 73, was found unresponsive on the ground outside the home with multiple wounds to his face, head, arms, and back and without a pulse.
Gonzalez was declared dead shortly after, police said.
Alfredo Gonzalez’s son, Lucas Daniel Gonzalez, 26, was found inside the home with minor cuts to his hands and was taken to a local hospital, police said. Lucas Gonzalez was released from the hospital a short time later and interviewed by investigators, according to police.
Investigators said they believe Lucas Gonzalez used several knives found inside the home to attack his father. Evidence indicates the attack began inside the home and continued outside on the front walkway where Alfredo Gonzalez was found by arriving officers, according to investigators.
Las Cruces police said Lucas Gonzalez acknowledged his involvement in his father’s death while being interviewed by investigators.
Lucas Gonzalez has been booked into the Doña Ana County Detention Center where he is initially being held without bond.
