Tammy Faye Bakker died Friday, July 20, 2007 at the age 65. She was married to Jim Bakker and they both built a commercial empire around television evangelism.
Faye Bakker and Jim were referred to as the First Couple of TV Evangelism. It was a collaborative effort where Jim did most of the preaching and Tammy sang, most times with tears.
However, several sex and money scandals brought the ministry to end. Tammy and Jim were later divorced. Tammy later passed away at her home near Kansas City, Mo.
Tammy Faye Bakker’s death was announced on her Web site by Joe Spotts who was her booking agent. She reportedly died of colon cancer, which had spread to her lungs.
