Dustin Peterson Death – The authorities have released the identity of a man who drowned while saving a child from drowning on Wednesday, July 15, 2020 at Red Fleet State Park as 34-year-old Dustin Peterson, of Uintah County.
According to a statement from Utah State Parks and Recreation, Peterson was boating with family members and friends about 3 p.m on Wednesday on Red Fleet Reservoir when he saw a 6-year-old child struggling in the water.

He jumped from the boat and into the water to help the child. Neither of them were wearing a life jacket.
According to the statement, “With Peterson’s assistance, the child was able to be pulled back onto the boat to safety. However, Peterson was unable to remain afloat and keep his head above water. Members of his group then called for help.”
Peterson’s body was recovered 40 feet of water around 10 p.m by the members of the Department of Public Safety Dive Team and the Utah Division of Parks and Recreation Remotely Operated Vehicle Team, says the park officials.
The state parks spokesman Eugene Swalberg said weather was not believed to be a factor in the drowning, and the group was boating in a wakeless area.
