Elderly Man Death – The authorities are yet to release the identity of a 73-year-old man who was shot and killed by the Ontario Provincial Police in cottage country on Wednesday morning, after a face mask incident.

According to the Special Investigation Unit, the 73-year-old man visited a grocery store in Minden, Ont without a face mask, which resulted to him assaulting some individuals.

Officers with the Ontario Provincial Police followed him home, at which point they were involved in a shooting with the man. Shots were fired and the man was killed.

The victim’s identification has been confirmed by the CBC News, but is waiting for police to name him after they notify his next of kin.

After a search of the scene, the officials discovered a semi-automatic rifle as well as a pistol.

Investigation is being handled by the SIU. They are automatically called in to investigate incidents involving police in which someone is killed, injured or accused of sexual assault.
