New Haven Death – The police has confirmed the death of one man who was shot on York Street on Friday morning, July 17, 2020.

According to Capt. Anthony Duff,  at 10:13 a.m, officers and firefighters responded to multiple 911 calls, finding a gunshot victim in the Walgreens’ parking lot at 88 York St.

The victim was rushed to the hospital for care, but was later pronounced dead by 11:40 a.m., Duff said.

“Officers located witnesses and held a scene in a rear commercial parking lot,” Continues Duff.

“Investigators are conducting a death investigation and believe this is an isolated incident. There is no danger to the public.”

Duff asked any witnesses who have not yet spoken with police to contact the department at 203-946-6304.

This is recorded as the 59th shooting of the year in New Haven. There have been 11 homicides so far in 2020 as well. In 2019, there were just over 50 shootings and 12 homicides by year’s end.

The identity of the man is yet to be released by the officials as investigation is still ongoing.
