Rest In Peace to Emitt Rhodes, a talented American singer-songwriter who made his mark in the late 1960’s as a member of the ultra groovy pop band The Merry-Go-Round, before releasing two of the best solo albums of…

Very sad to hear about the passing of Emitt Rhodes. His 1970 self-titled LP is one of the greatest power pop albums ever. He was an American McCartney who never found the audience he deserved. But his work is ripe for rediscovery.

I’m not going to write loads of RIP stuff, but if you don’t know these albums, you’d do well to rectify that. Pop fucking genius from start to finish. Love you, Mr. Emitt Rhodes. Sleep well. X pic.twitter.com/LUIrTz8sq0

Not proud to admit that the music of Emitt Rhodes somehow never found me. Or if it did I just wasn’t paying attention. Big mistake. Just listened to one song and it was fantastic. The pursuit begins. Also, RIP.

Just started getting into Emitt Rhodes music over the last few weeks. It’s a damn shame he never got his due with what he contributed to baroque pop. Give his music a spin, sadly there wasn’t a whole lot. Rest In Peace dude. #LoveWillStoneYou pic.twitter.com/q31IBNk6nw

That Emitt Rhodes
Reminds me of Steve Martin Caro of Left Banke and Macca. It’s an extremely tight and close sound with full voice. It’s pretty urgent. I don’t know his stuff.
RIP
He’s a nice voice and that’s undeniable— RW Hedges (@RwHedges) July 19, 2020
The word genius gets bandied around a lot, but Emitt Rhodes was the real damn deal. One of the first home recordists/one-person-bands, and an enormous influence on my way of doing things.
Bonus: also sounded more like the Beatles than the Beatles did

R.I.P., Emitt Rhodes. What a talent. What a loss. I’m sure glad he got to make one last album a few years back, though, and you’d best believe I was part of the PledgeMusic campaign that made it happen. Here’s the song that made me a fan. Thanks, Emitt..

The Brilliant Emitt Rhodes passed away in his sleep last night.I was a huge fan of his work and managed to have a conversation with him in front of an audience which some said would be Impossible.I’m here with Allison and Tiffany Anders at a “Don’t knock the rock” film festival. pic.twitter.com/6u7yodHOSf

Any serious aficionado of Pop music will tell you that #EmittRhodes was in a class by himself. It’s a shame not enough people were aware of the man’s talent. R.I.P. Emitt. pic.twitter.com/YES45qZYZt

So sad to hear about the passing of Emitt Rhodes. I was a big fan since I bought these two amazing albums on 8-track. Here’s a great track – “Golden Child of God”pic.twitter.com/TlIiJOojk4

Emitt Rhodes, who made scores of perfect pop songs, has died. If Paul is your favorite Beatle, you’ll love Emitt’s music. I don’t know much about him personally, but he always struck me as a gentle soul.

Emitt Rhodes passed away today. He recorded his debut album at 19 in his parents garage on a 4 track. It’s a masterpiece, one of those records that when I find a copy I buy it & give it to a friend.
Here’s a great interview in TapeOp back in ‘03

I wish #EmittRhodes could see himself trending. He was an amazingly talented musician on his way to an enduring career until he was done wrong by a nasty music executive who stole his career from him with a contract that he could never fulfill. For me his music lasts forever. pic.twitter.com/ztTtuHo5uE

My friend. At one time, my producer and co-writer. A fucking genius with amazing “ears”. He believed in me. I will miss him. Listen, listen Emitt. #EmittRhodes

RIP Emitt Rhodes, cult musician, singer, and songwriter—a fellow musical traveler from my home town (and maybe the first musician I ever asked for an autograph).

I discovered Emitt Rhodes later than I would have liked, but I’m sure glad I did. Any Beatles fan should check him out. The Emitt Rhodes Recordings hardly has a bad song on it. #RIPEmittRhodes

En Spotify solo esta el compilado que reúne los 4 discos de Emitt Rhodes, y en algún momento separé los 4 discos.
Este es el primer disco de Emitt, de 1970

1998’s Edsel Records CD comp was my Emitt Rhodes intro – as thrilling as discovering Chilton, Scott-Heron or Zevon – and I was ecstatic to find Dunhill vinyl copies of ER and Mirror in Helsingborg last year. An astonishing talent, tragically destroyed by the star maker machinery.
