Deputy William Garner Death – On Sunday, July 19, 2020, a Georgia Sheriff’s deputy was killed after a crash on I-85. He is identified as Deputy William Garner, 53.
According to Franka Young of the Georgia State Patrol Public Information Office, the ugly incident happened when Deputy Garner responded to a single vehicle crash on I-85 near mile marker 164, around 7: p.m Sunday.

While Garner was still helping the occupants involved in the road crash, a 2018 Honda Accord driven by a 21-year-old and traveling southbound, lost control, left the roadway and went into the median, causing the Honda to hit the Deputy.
Reports have it that Deputy Garner sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead.
The driver of the Honda vehicle identified as Abdulhafiz Abdullahi, of Lawrenceville, Georgia was not injured. Abdullahi is being charged with Homicide by Vehicle 1st Degree, and other charges pending.
The investigation is ongoing and its being handled by the Georgia State Patrol Specialized Collision Reconstruction Team.
