Joseph Johnson Death – The Missouri State Highway Patrol has reported and identified the man who drowned in the Lamine River Monday night while swimming with his family, as 25-year-old Joseph Johnson, of Mo.

According to the MSHP, around 7:30 p.m, Johnson got caught in the current of the river at the Harriean Hill Access.

Johnson swam after a child who was caught in the river’s current. He was able to get the child out of the water but couldn’t escape the current, because he wasn’t wearing a flotation device, says the troopers.

He was pronounced dead by the Cooper County Coroner at 8:56 p.m.

According to record, Johnson’s death is marked as the first for Troop F this year.
