Todd Adelman Death – The Linn County Sheriff’s Office has reported and released the identity of the male hiker who fell hundreds of feet and died near the summit of Three Fingered Jack in the Oregon Cascades on Sunday, July 19, as 19-year-old Todd Adelman, of Aumsville.
This release was made on Tuesday, July 21.
According to reports, around 1 p.m. July 19, deputies responded to the scene after a report on a hiker that had fallen.

Adelman was found dead at the base of a cliff 7,300 feet up the 7,844-foot peak by rescuers
According to the sheriff’s office: “Responders worked all night carrying Adelman out.”
According to an eye witness report to authorities, Adelman was near the summit when rocks gave way, causing him to fall.
The sheriff’s office said: “Three Fingered Jack is a popular place for technical mountaineers and is located 71 miles east of Sweet Home. The mountain is known to have poor rock quality and steep cliffs near the summit.”
The Rescue team includes: The Linn County Sheriff’s Office, Lane County Sheriff’s Office, Benton County Sheriff’s Office, Jefferson County Sheriffs’ Office, Corvallis Mountain Rescue, Eugene Mountain Rescue and Deschutes Mountain Rescue.
