Death has occurred: Joseph Bernhard William Kiser, a 21-year-old boy from Granville has been shot dead by a trooper, following a chase that ended in Trotwood, Monday.
Cause of Bernhard William Kiser’s death: according to Ohio State Highway Patrol spokesperson Lt. Robert Sellers, at about 1:15 a.m, a Hyundai Veloster driven by a man later identified s Joseph passed a patrolling trooper at a high speed on U.S. 35 around the Interstate 675 exist. The trooper tried to pull the car over but, it refused to stop.

After a nine-minute chase, reaching speeds above 100mph, the car stopped in the middle of the road near the Olive Road intersection. Bernhard came out of the car holding a .357 revolver and began walking toward the trooper.

The trooper went behind his cruiser for cover and to retrieve a rifle.
Sellers said that the trooper looked out from cover and saw the man point the gun at him. The trooper fired three shots, hitting the man three times. The suspect didn’t fire any shots.
Troopers and Trotwood police officers applied first aid, but he died at the scene, Sellers said.
A crime scene reconstruction team responded the scene, closing a portion of Salem Avenue between Olive Road and the intersection with U.S. 49. Several hours later Salem Avenue was reopened.
The trooper will be placed on administrative leave while they investigate the shooting.
A call for assistance was issued after the car stopped, then canceled shortly afterward.
