OU vs Missouri: OU HEAD FOOTBALL COACH JOHN BLAKE LEADS TEAM ONTO FIELD AT MISSOURI.

John Blake Death – The former Oklahoma coach and winner of two Super Bowl rings as the Cowboy’s defensive line coach has died at the age of 59, on Thursday, July 23, 2020.

Blake’s death was made known by Barry Switzer, who coached alongside Blake at Oklahoma and with the Cowboys.

Switzer made this known to Dean Belvins of KWTV that the cause of Blake’s death was a heart attack while he was out on a walk.

Blake is said to be a coach who will be remembered for his stint as head coach of Oklahoma.

According to Switzer’s statement to Eric Bailey of the Tulsa World, “I recruited him out of Sand Springs. He played for me and captained for me. He coached for me. I was close to John.”

Before Blake became the head coach at Oklahoma, he was a nose guard at Oklahoma from 1979 to 1982 and then had a coaching career that saw him work as an assistant at Tulsa, Oklahoma and for the Cowboys. The Sooners struggled through a rough stretch during Blake’s tenure, and he went 12-22 in his three years as the head coach.

He coached the defensive line at Mississippi State, Nebraska and North Carolina after leaving Oklahoma.

Coaching the Bills’ defensive line in 2016 was Blake’s last coaching job before his demise.
