Jerry Taft Death | Obituary – Jerry Taft sadly passed away, Jerry Taft was a meteorologist who served as chief meteorologist for WLS-TV in Chicago. He worked in that role for 42 years.
“It is with a very heavy heart that I share the passing of our dear Jerry Taft with you. Jerry was instrumental in my coming to @ABC7Chicago
I can hear that laugh. Wow…I can hear that laugh. Miss you, pal. My deepest sympathy to his family.”
Taft spent one year at Georgia Tech, before working as radar technician for the United States Air Force in Iowa. After studying at Wartburg College for one year, he got accepted into the Airman Education and Commissioning Program, which sent him to the University of Wisconsin–Madison. During his time there, he became a pilot and fought in the Vietnam War for a year.
He eventually obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in meteorology from that institution in 1969. He revealed that he initially did not aspire to be a meteorologist on television. His interest in the area piqued during the time that he flew airplanes.
We are never ready to say goodbye forever even though we know it is a part of life. This day our hearts are heavy for losing someone so special, but as we mourn your death, we also celebrate your life. Rest in peace.
It always seems like we have all the time in the world, only to realize how fleeting it really is. We wish we had more time to do and say the things we saved for later which along with you is gone forever. We promise to keep you alive in Our memories.
Even in death, you are still loved and forever will be. You have touched the hearts of so many who owe you a lifetime of gratitude. We are not saying goodbye forever but goodbye for now. We pray you to find peace and rest wherever you are.
We express our sympathy and deepest condolences to Jerry Taft’s family today and in the days, weeks, months, and years that are to come as they cope with his passing. May his soul rest in peace.
