Grashino Yancy Death – The police on Monday, July 27, released the identity of a man who was shot to death in what’s ruled as homicide on Sunday morning, July 26, in Clifton as 32-year-old boxer, Grashino Yancy.
Yancy was a former Daily News Golden Gloves competitor says the police.
He was shot in the leg at around 12:40 a.m on Sunday, in the rear of 260 Park Hill Ave., says the police.

Report says, Yancy was shot when he was attending a barbecue in the neighborhood and also on the borough to mourn a family member who passed on.
According to his boxing program director on the borough, a retired cop, Pat Russo, 58, said, Yancy recently returned from Minnesota to New York. He’s been working at Minnesota as a construction worker.
“He was a good fighter, but he was also a good person,” says Russo.
In Russo’s statement, Yancy grew within the Island’s Atlas Cops & Kids Boxing Club program, the Clifton native felt a desire to give back. “As he went on in age he became one of our coaches there, one of the mentors,” Russo said, “because he appreciated what the gym did for him and he became a coach.”
“His life mattered.” That was Russo’s statement on his selfless nature.
Family and friends poured out their heart felt tributes for the decease through Facebook on Sunday.
Yancy’s sister, Elle wrote on her Facebook page saying, “I’m asking everyone who knew him and loves him to celebrate his life with love and laughter in these heavy times. If you knew how light hearted Grash really is (‘is’ because his energy will never die), you would understand that it’s what he would want right now.”
“Let’s channel these hurt emotions into positivity and help his spirit return to his Creator in peace with that big white, beautiful, smile of his as we remember and celebrate the light, laughter, and genuine energy he’s brought into our lives in some way, shape, or form,” she said.
On Sunday morning, candles could be seen being lit in his honor not far from the spot he was shot.
Investigation is still ongoing.
