Stafford Lake Death –The RCMP in Coaldale on Monday confirmed the drowning incident that occurred at Stafford Lake which took the life of a 20-year-old man presumed to have drowned in the Stafford Lake.

The lake which is located about 10 minutes east of Coaldale, is just south of Highway 3.

According to report, at 5.00p.m on July 27, the Coaldale RCMP, Coaldale Fire Department, Coalhurst Fire Department and the Lethbridge Fire Water Rescue Team responded to a report of a missing 20-year-old man presumed drown in Stafford Lake.

A drone was used to narrow down the search location which helped divers with the Lethbridge Fire Water Rescue Team locate the missing person.

The man was recovered and brought to shore just after 9:00 p.m. He was already deceased at the time of recovery.

According to Coaldale RCMP, the Calgary Medical Examiners Office will be the lead on the investigation.

The Staff Sergeant Glenn Henry with the Coaldale detachment sent his heart felt condolence to the deceased family,  “Our thoughts are with the family, friends and community members during this sad and difficult time.”

“I would like to thank the first responders for their quick professional response and the community members who assisted where they could.”

A reminder is sent to users of water recreational areas by the Coaldale RCMP to always use safety devices such as life jackets and personal flotation devices. The name of the deceased male will not be released.
