Manee Castillo Death – The authorities on Wednesday morning, July 29, 2020 released the identity of the victim who was shot to death after an argument on Tuesday evening, July 28, near his home in Herschel street as 20-year-old Manee Castillo.

Castillo was identified as the city’s fifth homicide victim in 2020.

According to the police report, one or two shots were fired and one hit Castillo who was near his home.

Castillo was transported to Rhode Island Hospital by his family where he later succumbed to his gun shot wounds.

At a news conference on Wednesday at the police headquarters on Washington Street, Maj. David Lapatin said, “What we’re getting is it might have been a verbal argument that was going to turn into a physical altercation when the gun was brought out.”

Lapatin continues to say, Castillo “was involved” in the argument, “but we can’t say he had started it.”

Although investigators have gotten information on what the altercation was about, they have decided to keep it undisclosed at this point. The incident happened nearby Devereux Avenue, says Capt. Timothy O’Hara.

According to O’Hara, “We’re continuing the investigation today, and hope to speak with more people who were present.”

Police responded to the scene which stretched from Devereux Avenue to Herschel Street, off Manton Avenue. at 6.00 p.m on Tuesday and started scouring the area, looking through bushes and looking to interview witnesses.

The police stated that domestic violence and aggravated assaults have both increased this year compared with last year.
