Newton Bentley Death – A Jamaica Constabulary Force Officer identified as 59-year-old Newton Bentley was shot to death on Wednesday morning, July 29, 2020 in Spanish Town, St Catherine.

Authorities reports that gunshots were heard from a construction site at the National Water Commission sewage treatment plant in the Innswood Village section of the old capital around 7. a.m.

Preliminary investigation found Bentley’s body in his own blood and with apparent gun shot wounds. His licensed 9mm pistol was also missing.

According to reports, Bentley was set to retire from the Jamaica Constabulary Force in August.

Bentley had been on suspension from the police force for the last 18 years, and was freed by the Court of Appeal of a charge of perverting the course of justice in March of this year.

The death is being investigated by the Spanish Town Police.
