Denise Brooks Death | Denise Brooks Obituary – A longtime leader in Hamilton’s social service sector, Denise Brooks has died. Brooks was executive director of the Hamilton Urban Core Community Health Centre, an inner-city agency that serves some of the city’s most vulnerable residents. On Tuesday, 28th of July 2020, Brooks died unexpectedly of natural causes at the age of 64. She is survived by an adult son and numerous extended family.
According to a report made by TheHamiltonSpectator, Mulkewich describes Brooks’ work over the last few decades as “pioneering.” She and Brooks first worked together in the early 1990s, when they were co-chairs of an anti-racism training program for the Hamilton Police Service. Brooks was a stalwart advocate for “underprivileged and marginalized people,” including Black, Indigenous and racialized residents, Horwath said. “She was committed to not just talking about change, but making change happen.”
