Deputy Chief Dion Boyd Death – After the demise of Deputy Chief Dion Boyd on Tuesday, July 28, an autopsy performed on Wednesday, July 29 disclosed that the Chicago Police deputy chief found dead in a station committed suicide.

This was made know by the Cook County medical examiner’s office, who said Deputy Chief Dion Boyd died of a self-inflicted gunshot to the chest.

This finding confirms an announcement made by the Chicago Police Department that Boyd fatally shot himself Tuesday morning.

Boyd’s demise came just days after he was promoted to deputy chief of criminal networks by Superintendent David Brown.

Boys who was a popular member of the department and in his 29 years of duty in the force is the highest ranking member of the department to take his own life in memory.

He worked as an undercover officer in narcotics, homicide detective and internal affairs officer before moving into the command ranks.
