Michael Bowen and Tadhg Murphy Death | Michael Bowen and Tadhg Murphy Obituary – Michael Bowen, 40, from Ahakista, and Tadhg Murphy, 19, from Glengarriff, were killed when the car failed to negotiate a bad bend on the Kenmare Road. It hit a wall and catapulted into the fast-flowing river, which was particularly high after recent heavy rainfall. Sources said the two victims, who were pronounced dead at the scene, died on impact.
A back seat passenger managed to escape the VW Jetta car out a broken rear window and pulled another passenger out to safety. The passenger has been hailed as a hero after pulling another pal from the wreckage and reviving him with CPR. That survivor is now fighting for his life in hospital after the single vehicle accident near the popular west Cork tourist town of Glengarriff at around 5.30am on Monday, 3rd of August 2020.
