Anthony McAleenan Death – The Horry County Coroner’s Office have released the identity of an elderly man who drowned on Tuesday, August 4 while trying to save another swimmer at Garden City Beach as 76-year-old Anthony McAleenan from Willowbrook, Illinois.
According to the Coroner’s Office, a call came in around 12:30 p.m. Tuesday about an elderly man found unresponsive in the beach.

McAleenan was immediately taken to Waccamaw Hospital in Murrells Inlet, where he was later pronounced dead.
A postmortem has been scheduled for Wednesday.
