Aric Whitacre Death – The Jefferson County Coroner’s Office have released the identity of the young adult who was reported missing on Friday, July 31 in the Chatfield Reservoir as 18-year-old Aric Whitacre.

This release was made on Wednesday, August 5.

According to reports Whiteacre  around 3.25 p.m on Friday went missing while swimming with someone else who was later rescued by occupants in a nearby boat. They were swimming at the Catfish Flats area of the reservoir, just south of the swim beach on the west side of the park.

Whiteacre was discovered on Wednesday, August 5, in 17 feet under water and about 50 yards from the shore, after a long search for him. The search team used the sonar and optical video equipment on a remote-operated vehicle.

The search crew also used divers, a cadaver dog, a helicopter, drones and more to search for Whiteacre, says the official report.

Although the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office do not suspect any foul play, investigation still continues by the Jefferson County Coroner’s Office to determine the cause of death.

Whiteacre’s drowning is the recorded as the 23rd in the state this year.
