Gold Coast Beach Death – The Queensland Police have confirmed the death of a man who drowned while swimming on Wednesday, August 5, 2020, in Mermaid beach. The victim is believed to be in his 40s.
At 7.56 a.m on Wednesday, the emergency crew responded to the report of a possible drowning incident at the Mermaid Beach at the scene off Cronulla Ave and Hedges Avenue.

Life saving efforts were performed on the victim after his body was pulled from the water by lifeguards. All their efforts to resuscitate him were futile.
According to Nine News Gold Coast report, preliminary investigation revealed that the unidentified man, was surfing, and had a medical episode in the water.
Queensland Police are on the beach making inquiries on how to identify the victim.
