Janat Madhi death & obituary: An Iraqi anti-government activist was murdered on Wednesday 22nd January 2020.
Civil society activist Madhi, 49, was shot dead around 11:00 p.m (2000 GMT) by armed men in an SUV, five people including at least one other local activist were wounded in the shooting as reported by the police.
An AFP reporter said she was part of an activist group giving medical care to demonstrators. The group departed the main protest camp in Basra late Tuesday, the reporter said, after which they were fired upon by unknown gunmen.
Madhi suffered severe gunshot wounds due to the attack after been rushed to an hospital, this report was given by the city’s forensic lab which was further confirmed by the AFP.
