Joe Wills Death | Joe Wills Obituary – We have received information about the sudden demise of Joe Wills a Durham miner. Joe Wills worked in Staffordshire as a Durham miner and also worked as a NUM agent, he worked tirelessly throughout the 1984-85 strike, and went on to become the Secretary of the Midlands NUM.

Joe Wills was also a popular figure in North Staffordshire football circles and he played for and managed the successful Thurston pub team from Bentilee. He was a dad-of-one and grandad-of-three. He passed away after suffering a heart attack at his Norton home on the 22nd of July 2020 at the age of 82. His heartbroken daughter Valerie Wills, aged 55, has led the tributes describing him as ‘a big man with a big heart’.
