Gina Vargas Death – The police have confirmed and released the identity of the woman that was found dead in a hotel room in Corvallis on Monday, August 10 as 41-year-old Gina Vargas.

A man identified as 57-year-old George Spencer has been arrested and is facing charges of second-degree assault, strangulation and fourth-degree assault at this time.

According to official report, Vargas was found dead on a hotel room bed at 345 NW 2nd St. just before 5:30 a.m

Preliminary investigation revealed that Vargas met Spencer on Sunday. During Spencer’s interview he told the police that he was under the influence of methamphetamine,and had strangled Vargas over the thoughts that she was trying to set him up.

After the incident, Spencer went down to the restaurant, reporting that he had been assaulted. The hotel employee placed a call across to the police at 4.am. Upon the police arrival, Spencer took them to a wrong hotel room.

When he eventually returned to his room, Spencer found a man in his room and then placed a call himself on a robbery case because he felt that some of his items were missing. When the police arrived his room, they found Vargas’ body.

An autopsy has been filed for Vargas to determine the cause of her death.

Spencer’s charges could change depending on the result of the autopsy, says the officials.
