Ernie Phythian Death | Obituary –  Former Wrexham, Hartlepool United and Bolton Wanderers striker Ernie Phythian age 78 passed away peacefully. Ernest Rixon Phythian was an English professional footballer who played as a striker. Active between 1959 and 1968, Phythian made over 250 appearances in the Football League, scoring nearly 100 goals. he contributed greatly to his community and club he was a legend in the making.  He scored 44 goals in 134 league appearances in his three years with the North Wales club. he will be greatly missed.
