Newport News Police Officer Katie Thyne Passed Away | Cause Of Death:
Katie Thyne died January 23, 2020 following ghastly vehicle crash that took place in the 1400 block of 16th Street, said police.
Katie Thyne passed away Thursday around 6:47 p.m in the course of traffic violation accident, said report.
Thyne was conducting a traffic stop on the road, when the driver of a black car, failed to halt for stop sign, skidded passed her at a high speed rate and dragged her along, the vehicle crashed into a tree and Katie was held in between the suspect car and the tree, she was severely injured and unresponsive at the scene. She was taken to the hospital, where she was pronounced dead, said report.
Katie passed on at the age of 24 from injuries sustained in the accident, said police.
The unidentified driver of the vehicle had been held responsible during investigation and charged with Felony Homicide, Evade and Elude, and narcotics charges.
