Gus Yaki Death | Gus Yaki Obituary – According to a tweet made by RD River Watershed (@RDRWA) on the 19th of August 2020, Gus Yaki passed away last week. He died on the 10th of August 2020 at the age of 87. Gus Yaki was a legendary Calgary birder and naturalist who inspired countless people to learn more about the world around them. Gus was one of Alberta’s most ardent naturalists, involved in the founding of the @NCC_CNC and @fish_creek, and inspiring countless people with his love and knowledge of the natural world.
According to RD River Watershed, In 2017, Gus Yaki organized and led a hike across southern Alberta to mark Canada 150 and support the study of birds and habitat conservation. He received the Sovereign’s Medal for Volunteers by the Governor General of Canada, and was recognized as one of Calgary’s “Top 7 over 70.” in 2019. We extend our condolences.
