Michelle Ansley Death – According to Thompson police, a woman who has been identified as 40-year-old Michelle Ansley was shot and killed on Tuesday night, August 18 during what was reported to the police as gun-cleaning accident.

Around 6.00 p.m on Tuesday, the Thomson Police Department and rescue crews McDuffie County Fire/EMS officers responded to the 300 block of Thomas Avenue  after receiving the report of a person suffering from gun shot wound. When they arrived the scene, they found Ansley inside the home with a gunshot wound to her leg.

According to the police, they were informed by a 41-year-old man that he had been cleaning his gun when it accidentally fired, hitting Ansley.

Ansley was taken to Doctors Hospital in Augusta by the rescue crews who rendered emergency medical aid to her first.

At 6.59 p.m, she was pronounced dead at the hospital, says McDuffie County Assistant Coroner Paul Johnson.

Ansley was said to be a family member of the man who was cleaning the gun.

The Thomson Police Department’s criminal investigation is handling the incident.
