Jacob F. Baker Death – The Delaware State Police have released the identity of the man that died after a fatal crash on Wednesday, August 19 on Saint Augustine Beach Road south of 6th Street in Middletown, as 59-year-old Jacob F. Baker, 3rd of Townsend.
The police reports that the incident occurred at exactly 8.09 p.m Wednesday, on Saint Augustine Beach Road south of 6th Street.

According to the Public Information Officer, Senior Corporal Heather Pepper, a 2009 Toyota Camry, driven by Baker was traveling southbound on Saint Augustine Beach Road from the area of Port Penn. In the area of 1800 Saint Augustine Beach Road, the roadway curves gradually to the right. For unclear reasons, the operator failed to negotiate the curve in the roadway, traveled across the solid double yellow line, and the northbound lane of travel before traveling off the east edge of the road and the front center of the vehicle hit a tree located on the east side of the roadway.
Baker was pronounced dead at the scene, says Pepper.
The investigation is still ongoing.
