Simms, according to the message posted on the fundraiser page created for his funeral expenses “would have been a junior in college this coming year.”
While mourning his death, Alpha Kappa Lambda shared the below message on Twitter.
“It is with a heavy heart we remember our brother Austin who passed away July 13th 2020. He was so incredibly loved. We have created this campaign to help his family with any costs they may face. Thank you to those who participate.”

Austin was kind, hilarious, and would do anything for the people he cared about. He was an incredible brother that will be missed so dearly. We have the heaviest of hearts at this news and want to help any way we can.
