Bettina Koelzer Death – The identity of the woman who lost his life after a five-vehicle crash on Saturday evening, August 1 on Interstate 40 east near exit 407 has been released as 55-year-old Bettina Koelzer of Iowa.
The investigators reported that Koelzer died in the crash and three other victims were injured.

According to reports, 40-year-old Darryl Kerr of Georgia was traveling west on I-40 when his 2017 Jeep Wrangler crossed the median and crashed into eastbound traffic. The Jeep rolled over, and Kerr was taken to UT Medical Center.

43-year-old Vincee Merrifield and 21-year-old Jerra Merrifield who were passengers driving in a 2020 Ford Explorer, were also injured and taken to UT Medical Center.

Two others, the drivers of the other vehicles involved, were not transported.

The state police said I-40 east was closed until just before midnight that evening.

The crash is still under investigation, and no charges have been filed as of Monday.
