Christine Keegan Death – A long time Stardust campaigner known as Christine Keegan has died on Tuesday, July 14, 2020 at the age of 81.

Mrs Keegan was a long-time campaigner for those killed in the Stardust nightclub fire in 1981. She fought for several years for a fresh investigation into the blaze that claimed the lives of her two daughters.

Her daughters, Martina,16, and Mary, 19, were among the 48 people who lost their lives in the fire. The incident was in the Artane venue during a Valentine’s disco in February 1981.

It was confirmed last year that a new investigation into the blaze would start but it is yet to get into progress.

The families have been supported in their campaigns in recent years by Sinn Féin senator Lynn Boylan.

“I just think it’s incredibly sad news to hear of the passing of Mrs Keegan. She’s been a formidable campaigner for the families of those who lost their lives in the Stardust and to get so close to the new inquest and hopefully getting the answers that the families deserve, it’s just deeply tragic.” Senator Boylan says.
