Cody Bart Lauderdale, a 27-year-old man from Dora was killed in a Friday morning accident that happened on U.S. 78 between mile markers 147 and 148. The accident happened around 5:20 a.m.
According to authorities, Lauderdale was traveling westbound in his Chevrolet pickup truck when, for unknown reasons, he crossed the grassy median into oncoming traffic. The truck struck a tree and caught fire. Lauderdale was pronounced dead on the scene.
