Dameon And Kaylie de Vries Death – The death of two siblings on a farm in the Gansbaai area on Sunday, July 19, have left the Gansbaai community in a mourning mood.

The siblings identified as 7-year-old Dameon de Vries and his younger sister 5-year-old Kaylie de Vries, drowned in a dam on the farm Vlooikraal in the Baardskeerdersbos area, near Gansbaai, reports Netwerk24.

The parents of the children, André and Odete de Vries, thought their kids were taking a nap, but was hit with the tragic disappearance of their kids when they woke up at around 16:00.

A search ensued immediately and family members were summoned to help locate Dameon and Kaylie, says Netwerk24.

Their bodies and some of their belongings were found by 20:00 in the dam and next to the dam.

According to the police spokesperson Sergeant Noloyiso Rwexana, members of the Gansbaai police responded to a drowning complaint on the farm at about 19:45.

“Upon arrival, the bodies of children aged five and seven, girl and boy respectively, were found. A death inquest case has been opened for investigation,” says Rwexana.

An outpour of condolences for the local community about the incident was drawn from the Facebook post.

Lately, Gansbaai has had no shortage of tragic deaths, says the authorities.
