Reactions And Sharing On Deklan Gilmartin Passing
Coogee United FC PL & PLR : We are heartbroken to announce that one of our CUFC family, Deklan Gilmartin, passed away after a tragic accident whilst he was on holiday over the weekend.
Words cannot describe how sad we are as a club to have to announce this. Dekkers was a much loved member of Coogee United but also the wider football community having played in the NPL for a number of years. He was arguably the most gifted player we’ve ever had to grace the black and white shirt of Coogee United and was often referred to by many as being ‘far too good for this level’. But, football aside, it was Dek’s tremendous love of life off the park that people adored even more. His smile was contagious and he was one of those that would light up every room and do anything to help others, anytime. Dek personified what our club strives to be in every way and we are shattered to have lost someone so special and so young. Our club will never be the same again and we will miss Dek so much. Our thoughts and love are with the Gilmartin family at this terrible time.
RIP Dekkers, you really were one of a kind and will always be in our hearts.
29-year-old Deklan Gilmartin has been farewelled by @footballnsw as a “much-loved character” with an “infectious personality”. He died yesterday when the 4WD he was driving rolled on #FraserIsland. @abcbrisbane @abcnews pic.twitter.com/jl30yShvAd
