The owner of a 7-Eleven on East Colfax Avenue has been stabbed to death on Wednesday, November 27, 2019. He died of stabbing injuries hours after the stabbing happened.
The Denver Police Department tweeted that the victim died from his injuries at a hospital four hours after first reporting the incident.
35-year-old Bereket Cholo who is identified in the police document as a manager at the store was arrested on suspicion of first-degree murder.
A witness called authorities to report the stabbing from a 7-Eleven store in the 7600 block of East Colfax Avenue. The victim, whose name was withheld, was a 43-year-old male and owned the store, the document said.
A witness said that the two men talked about money when Cholo, who started to yell, said that some money was taken from him, the witness said in the probable cause statement. The witness told police the victim was bleeding from the neck when he and Cholo moved from behind the register toward the front door. That was when the witness saw Cholo allegedly stab the owner in the neck before leaving the store, the witness said in the statement.
Police arrested Cholo at a residence in the 2100 block of South Waco Street in Aurora after he called 911 to report what the call-taker described as a “civil matter,” the statement said.
