Deputy Makeem Brooks Death | Obituary
Brooks died while responding to an emergency. He passed away in a fatal vehicle crash at the age of 27. He was an Eastern Carolina deputy sheriff.
According to Northampton County Sheriff’s Jack Smith, Deputy Makeem Brooks died in an accident around 11:30 p.m. Wednesday on Highway 158 just outside of Garysburg.
Brooks was responding to a shots fired call for a woman when his cruiser ran off the highway, hit a ditch and overturned several times. He was pronounced dead about a half-hour after the accident.
