Donald C. Wetzel the ATM Machine inventor has passed away. Don Wetzel died on Tuesday, November 26, 2019, at age 90.

The news of Wetzel’s death was announced on Twitter by Stu Nicholson @Footestu1, Public Affairs Director / All Aboard Ohio, according to his Twitter bio.

It happened here in Ohio and the record still stands.
But some sad news to report: The retired New York Central engineer who piloted the jet-powered RDC (Rail Diesel Car) to an American speed record has passed away. RIP Don Wetzel.

Donald C. Wetzel, born January 3, 1929 was an American businessman known for holding the USA patent to the automatic teller machine. Born in New Orleans, Louisiana he graduated from Jesuit High School in 1947 and got a B.Sc. in foreign trade from Loyola University New Orleans

JPMorgan Chase of recent, celebrated and honored Wetzel during the invention’s half-century anniversary with a ceremony outside the former Chemical branch and invited the ATM’s 93-year-old inventor.
