Dr. Santo Buccheri, 60, was a physician from Wethersfield, Connecticut. He died of COVID-19 on the 27th of June 2020 after spending 45 days on a ventilator. Dr. Santo loved his family, his ’65 Mustang, and his yearly trips to Disney.
As a physician, Santo Buccheri was hard at work when a mysterious new virus began tearing through the state. By early May, with cases spiking, he, too, had fallen ill with COVID-19. He went into quarantine and initially treated his symptoms with a combination of Pedialyte, Tylenol and copious amounts of water. Then his condition worsened and the 60-year-old physician from Wethersfield was taken by ambulance to St. Francis Hospital and Medical Center, the same hospital where he completed his residency more than 35 years ago.
