Driver Found Dead With Gunshot Wounds –  A driver who was found dead with gunshot wounds in a car early Wednesday in Choctaw has been identified as an 18-year-old   Armoni Johnson.

According to Choctaw police, at about 2 a.m., the Oklahoma County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call stating that shots were being fired at a vehicle.

Choctaw officers arrived at the scene in the 14000 block of Northeast 36th Street, and found a black Lexus that had crashed into culvert. The car was driven by 18-year-old Armoni Johnson, who was found dead.

Witnesses said someone from a small white car fired shots at the victim’s vehicle. Police said the search is on for the shooter.

According to police, about 12 spent shell casings were found in a one mile stretch of road. It is unknown at this time if Johnson died from gunshot wounds or the impact of the crash. The medical examiner will determine the cause of death and notify investigators.

Johnson had just graduated Monday night from Choctaw High School, according to police.

Officials with the Choctaw-Nicoma Park Schools released the following statement:

“As a school community, we are heartbroken about the loss of Armoni Johnson. Armoni was a wonderful student. He will be greatly missed by family, friends, and the school community. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family during this difficult time.”

Authorities blocked off the area from Northeast 36th and Harper to Northeast 36th and Youngs during the investigation. Multiple agencies, including Choctaw, Luther, Harrah, Jones and Spencer police departments and the Oklahoma County Sheriff’s Office, were on the scene.
